Get to learn the properties and uses of 80 common Chinese medicinal herbs for health preservation as well as the preparation of tasty herbal cuisine.

This 8-week course will equip the participants with the knowledge to differentiate various common herbs. You will also learn how to incorporate them into daily meals to resolve common mild ailments.

The course will be conducted in English.

Instructors

All instructors are graduates of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (北京中医药大学)and are licensed physicians.

Dr Hong Hai

Course Director
Prof Hong Hai MD.PhD

Dr Hong Hai has been registered TCM practitioner since 2003. He previously served as a member of the TCM Practitioners Board and Chairman of its Academic Committee, and was an executive council member of the Academy of Chinese Medicine.

Dr Hong Hai’s doctoral work at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and London University focused on relating TCM principles to and biomedical science.

Currently Prof Hong is an Adjunct Professor at Nanyang Technological University, he is also an author or co-author of several books on TCM including:

  • Principles of Chinese Medicine: A Modern Interpretation
  • Cancer Management with Chinese Medicine
  • Pursuing the Elixir of Life: Chinese Medicine for Health

Prof Hong Hai’s principal clinical areas are health cultivation, active ageing, internal medicine, acupuncture and complementary treatments for cancer and chronic illnesses.

Physician Karen Wee

Karen Wee
BsC, BMed

Physician Karen Wee graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) in 2010 with degrees in biomedical sciences as well TCM.

Karen has taught TCM courses at SUSS, Renhai, and the Confucius Institute and was a past President of NTU's Chinese Medicine Alumni Association.

Karen has special interest in:

  • Internal Medicine
  • Women’s and Children’s Health
  • Child Tuina
  • Health Cultivation
  • Acupuncture
Physician Soh Shan Bin

Soh Shan Bin
BsC, BMed, MMed

Physician Soh Shan Bin with degrees in biomedical science from NTU and in TCM from BUCM in 2010, she trained at the Tianjin University of Chinese Medicine with a concentration on cardiovascular diseases for a Master’s degree.

Shan Bin has also taught TCM courses at the Renhai Clinic and the Confucius Institute.

Shan Bin is experienced in multiple aspects of Chinese Medicine and with a primary clinical concentration in:

  • Cardiovascular Diseases
  • Gastrointestinal Disorders
  • Management of Chronic Diseases such as hypertension and diabetes
  • Acupuncture
Chan Fei Koon

Fei Koon is a registered TCM physician with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board. She graduated with a double degree in Biomedical Science and Chinese Medicine, and later on pursued a Master degree in Nutrition at China Medical University in Taiwan.

Goh You Li

Goh You Li
BSc, BMed, PhD

You Li is a registered TCM physician with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board. She graduated with a double degree in Biomedical Science and Chinese Medicine, and went on to complete a PhD in acupuncture at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. You Li's clinical interests are in internal medicine (Nephrology) and acupuncture.
